Daughter of the King
The first time I ever walked into WellHouse Child, I noticed a painting on the wall, with beautiful flowing words across the canvas. I would later learn that it was painted by a survivor at The WellHouse. This is what it says: I am a daughter of a King, who is not moved by the world. For my God is with me and goes before me. I do not fear because I am His.
I want every resident that passes through our doors to know that they always have direct access to the King of Kings, and that he has brought them out from a place of darkness and into the light of his glorious presence. God is always present with them, providing comfort and support in times of fear and uncertainty.
No spiritual attributes are needed to become a daughter of the King. If you put your faith in Jesus Christ, you have been adopted and given a whole new identity. These survivors may have had names for themselves that were not as kind and loving. I hope that this name eradicates every lie that the world has told them.
These are the truths:
You are blessed. You do not have to strive for it. It is already yours. It is not like how the world considers blessed, it is better. The riches we have in heaven will never be destroyed.
You are chosen! God sees you in a crowd of people, He looks down and he knows you are one of His. God has a specific plan and purpose for your life, regardless of your struggles, flaws, or past experiences. You are valued and loved by God
You are holy and blameless! We all know that we are far from innocent, but all of the guilt was laid upon Jesus on the cross. It died there!
You are adopted! God is a loving father. He does not use His authority to punish us. God is a loving parent who wants the best for his children; promoting a relationship built on trust, love, and understanding rather than fear of retribution.
You are redeemed! When we are redeemed, we are transformed. We are no longer slaves to sin or to fear, we’re free!
You are forgiven! When we repent, our sins are wiped clean. We have received mercy. Jesus paid it all and because of that, we can freely live from places of condemnation. We have victory over our past.
You are full of hope! Jesus loves us so much that He sent the Holy Sprit to be with us and remind us that we are not alone. The walk will be difficult at times, but our reward is in Him. One day we will be taken out of our suffering here on earth and revel in His glorious presence. You are a child of God, a member of his royal family and an heir to his Kingdom.
Through this message, I hope that our residents find empowerment in their faith, encouragement to pursue their dreams, and that if fosters resilience and love!
