2024 In Review
Happy New Year! Our hearts are full as we look forward to 2025 and all God has in store for The WellHouse and the residents we serve. Before we venture too far into the new year, we want to take a moment and look back at all of the exciting moments and milestones from 2024.
Grace Gala 2024
The WellHouse Junior Board hosted our 8th Annual Grace Gala at The Fennec, and it was an enormous success! Dinner, dancing, silent auction, and the best part of the night - hearing from a survivor and graduate about their time in our programs, and being able to honor them at the event.
Next year’s Grace Gala is coming up - January 18, 2025 at The Theodore! We will have our first ever LIVE auction. Tickets and sponsorships are available here!
WellHouse Barn Opening
This year also marks the Grand Opening of our brand new building on campus, the Barn! The first floor is home to our ShopWell Studio, where our team of apprentices has an exclusive space to create their handmade products and grow the business. The expansion of ShopWell ultimately increases the space and resources to bring on more employees and provide safe and fulfilling job opportunities for more human trafficking survivors. The second floor of the Barn is home to our new Trauma Therapy suites where all of our residents can work on their healing with our beloved therapy dogs, Precious and Goldie. The second floor also has a multi-purpose space for group therapy and exercise classes.
Partners and Conferences
A major highlight from 2024 was attending the Global Gathering hosted by our partner Atlas Free in Alicante, Spain! We are immensely blessed to be part of such a strong network of organizations fighting human trafficking and empowering survivors across the globe. We left with increased strength, hope, and faith. Thank you for your dedication and for your friendship, Atlas Free. Indeed - together, we rise!
Our staff also got the opportunity to attend the Journey Back Conference hosted by the International Christian Alliance on Prostitution and the Abolition Summit with our direct care staff. At both events we were able to continue our survivor care education and connect with other practitioners in the anti-trafficking field.
WellHouse Child Education, Alumni Care, and Recovery Coordinators
2024 was the first year with our Alumni Care Coordinator, WellHouse Child Education Coordinator, and Recovery Coordinator on staff. These positions are vital to the success of both the women and minors in our programs. Our Alumni Care Coordinator has created a network of resources for our graduates to utilize as they continue their restoration work once they’ve finished our programs. The Education Coordinator is critical for the girls we serve in ensuring that each child has an individualized education plan based on her personal needs. Our Recovery Coordinator develops relationships working with other health and/or behavioral health care individuals and organizations to ensure high quality and comprehensive addiction care for the residents being served.
The Jensen Project
Over the summer, The WellHouse was chosen as a 2024 Grant Tank recipient by The Jensen Project. Through this grant award, The Jensen Project will support The WellHouse’s alumni care initiatives, which focus on providing affordable housing, job skills training, and expanding ShopWell.
We've loved getting to know the staff at The Jensen Project over the years and look forward to our continued partnership in the years to come.
CEO Carolyn Potter Celebrates 10 Years
2024 marked ten amazing years of service as WellHouse CEO for Carolyn Potter. Her wisdom, leadership, and heart for God have gotten us through every valley and championed us on every mountain. We know we wouldn't be where we are today without her.
A decade of work in the anti-trafficking field is no walk in the park. We are overwhelmed with pride for our leader and friend as we look back and see how far she has brought our organization since 2014.
ShopWell Expansion
2024 was a major year of growth for our ShopWell team. After transitioning into the new Studio and offices at the Barn, the staff was able to truly dream outside of the box and set goals for themselves and as a team. They rolled out brand new lines last year including wood and leather goods, candles, and handmade quilts! It’s safe to say that ShopWell is reaching new heights that we never thought were possible. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness!
2024 Luncheon
We are so grateful for the table sponsors, Board members, volunteers, and staff who not only made the 2024 Luncheon possible, but also went above and beyond to ensure this year's Luncheon was a remarkable success.
We loved hearing from our keynote speaker Jennifer Beagle, Founder of Her Hope Kentucky, as she shared her own experiences with exploitation, addiction, and restoration. Our CEO Carolyn Potter educated us all with the history and current landscape in aiding minor trafficking survivors.
