What is your job title and what year did you come on staff at The WellHouse?

I am a therapy dog for WellHouse women, and I came on staff in 2022.

What is your favorite part about your job?

One of my favorite parts about my job is getting to form relationships with the residents and staff here at The WellHouse. I love it when I get to stay on campus with the women overnight, or go home with other staff members where I often get to make new furry friends. The people at The WellHouse are my home – where I am fed, given treats (cheese and yogurt are my favorites), have blankets made for me, get lots of pets, am taken on walks, get to be silly with my sister, Goldie, and where I go swimming in the pond.

Tell us about your educational and professional experience that equips you to be successful in this field.

I have gone through some training. I know how to sit, lay down, shake, and even give hugs! That last one is everyone’s favorite.

How has working at The WellHouse impacted your life?

Working at The WellHouse has changed my life for the better. It is so special getting to sit with the women throughout their therapy sessions and be attuned to them, in the ways that I am able. When the women are crying, as they talk about the hard things they have gone through, I often will go give them kisses or lay at their feet. This will often create an opportunity for the women to laugh, smile, or feel cared for. Getting the opportunity to make this sort of impact is something that has an effect on me as well, in the very best way. I love my job!
