Rescue Update: Fall 2024

All glory to God that six survivors have found safety and peace at The WellHouse throughout June, July and August.

These 6 women are from Tennessee, Alabama, and Indiana ranging from dating relationships and familial trafficking, to kidnappings and long histories of childhood sexual abuse. We have seen just how vital referring partnerships are to our work the last three months. Survivors were referred from The Foundry, Family Sunshine Center, substance abuse rehab programs, the National Anti Human Trafficking Coalition, hospitals, and even friends who served as advocates to get them to safety.

What seems apparent in most of their stories is the deep grip addiction has on victims' lives. Five out of six of these survivors claimed to be in active addiction when trafficked or having turned to substances to cope with their trafficking experiences. What we know is that regardless of when, how, or what has happened with substances, the women we serve deserve freedom from its chains. This is why we are actively looking for a Recovery Coordinator to come alongside our intake and programming team as we hope to offer increased recovery services on campus in addition to our current offerings for sober living.

We know that for many of the survivors on our campus, substances have been used as a form of escape from their childhood trauma and trafficking. Our goal is to offer them physical, emotional, and mental safety so that they can live in peace.

It is consistently true that those we intake into the program are brave women making the choice to heal, grow, and restore their lives.
