Rescue Update: Summer 2022
Since our last Rescue update, The WellHouse has assisted on one sting operation and accepted twelve new residents into our restorative program.
Rescue happens in a number of different ways, but it almost always happens when someone identifies a victim. We share these stories so you can know how to identify a victim and what to do when a victim needs your help.
These are the situations that bring women to The WellHouse where they can safely heal from trafficking…
One resident was from Massachusetts. She was trafficked by her long term boyfriend when they got into a bad money situation. A long-time friend is an advocate and assisted her with leaving that situation.
One resident was from Tennessee. She had been sold by a trafficker for a significant amount of time, to the point where she thought he was her protector. She got away from him after she overdosed and was put into a detox facility.
One resident was from California. She was introduced to her trafficker by a “friend.” She ran for her life to get away.
One resident was from Alabama. She was trafficked from age 13 and it lasted until adulthood.
One resident was from Florida. She needed a place to stay and went to a friend’s hotel room. He told her she had to start “working” for him so she could live there. He lined up all of her dates and she got out after she was arrested.
One resident was from Mississippi. A guy she thought was her boyfriend trafficked her after they dated a short time.
One resident was from Florida. A faith-based organization ministered to her while on a john sting and she accepted their help.
One resident was from Florida. She was trafficked by her long-term boyfriend. She was charged criminally for crimes against her children and it motivated her to leave the situation.
One resident was from Utah. Her boyfriend trafficked her and she escaped from him when police intervened.
One resident was from Texas. Her boyfriend was her pimp for a long time. She escaped by running away.
One resident was from Alabama. She was trafficked by a long-term boyfriend and was arrested on unrelated charges.
One resident was from Alabama. She is a return resident that wanted to continue our program.
