Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

Volunteer Spotlight: Nicki Linton, Art Therapist

February marked three years with Volunteer Nicki Linton leading Art Therapy on our campus. Nicki has become a vital member of our volunteer team and has touched many lives during her weekly Art Therapy courses.

Nicki comes to our property every Thursday and holds an art class for each of our residents as part of our ongoing Art Therapy program. In these classes, Nicki covers everything from basic art skills, as well as in-depth techniques like watercolor and oil paintings. She challenges our residents to think outside the box, and to use art in therapeutic ways through Christian fellowship.

In one of their most recent projects, with Nicki’s guidance, the residents created artistic dream boards that are currently displayed in our multipurpose room. The process of creating these boards has encouraged our residents to dream of their redeemed life on the other side of The WellHouse. Through the creation of these boards, we have seen women who were once hopeless, find a future.

Over the years, Nicki has also held many art shows with resident artwork. These art shows have also served as fundraisers for The WellHouse. The most recent show was hosted at Mum and Me Mercantile in Leeds, Alabama. It was a very successful event and we look forward to more art shows in the future!

If you would like to contribute towards our Art Therapy classes, we are always in need of extra art supplies! We can use everything from sketch books, gel pens, paints, brushes, canvases. If you can make art with it, we can use it! You can drop off donations at Mountain Brook Baptist Church between Monday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Alternatively, you may mail them to The WellHouse: P.O. Box 868, Odenville, AL 35120.

Interested in volunteering with us? We would love to have you! Our biggest volunteer need right now is for transportation volunteers. Our residents have weekly appointments off campus, and we need volunteers to take them! If you can help with this, send an email to jessica@the-wellhouse.org to be added to the Transportation Team (Volunteer Training required).

Finally, it is with bittersweet emotion that I let you know that this will be my last Difference Makers blog post. Many of you know that I have 4 beautiful daughters (all under age 11), and my husband and I have decided that we are at a time in their lives when I need to stay home with them. I have loved every minute of working at The WellHouse, and I know the next Volunteer Coordinator will too!

All My Best,

Jessica Prescott
