What is your job title and what year did you come on staff at The WellHouse?

I am a therapist for WellHouse Woman. I began my internship in January 2023 and became full-time staff in December 2023.

What is your favorite part about your job?

One of my favorite parts about my job is getting to see transformation within the women, especially in their sense of safety and in the unveiling of their beauty of self. Historically for these women, their safety and beauty have been things that have been exploited and/or abused – they have been things that have caused much pain. However, while being at The WellHouse, getting to witness redemption for the women in these specific areas of their lives is such a joyful, and humbling, experience to be a part of.

Tell us about your educational and professional experience that equips you to be successful in this field.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Troy University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am currently an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC04790) under the supervision of Corinne Vance, LPC-S (SC0315) as I work towards maintaining my LPC.

How has working at The WellHouse impacted your life?

Working at The WellHouse has impacted my life, undoubtedly, for the better. The WellHouse is an environment that allows both the residents and the staff to be firsthand witnesses to the reckless love of God. Since working at The WellHouse, one of the passages that continues to stay afresh on my mind is Luke 15:3-7, the Parable of the Lost Sheep. What a deeply comforting and peaceful reality it is, knowing that our God joyfully rescues his Daughters who are lost!
