CARSON GRAINGER
What is your job title and what year did you come on staff at The WellHouse?
I am a therapist for WellHouse Woman. I began my internship in January 2023 and will be coming on as full-time staff in December 2023.
What is your favorite part about your job?
One of my favorite parts about my position is getting to see the transformation within the women here, especially in their sense of safety and in the unveiling of their self beauty. Historically for our residents, their safety and beauty have been exploited and/or abused, and they have caused the women so much pain. However, while being at The WellHouse, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing redemption for the women in these specific areas of their lives, and it’s such a joyful and humbling experience to be a part of.
Tell us about your educational and professional experience that equips you to be successful in this field.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Troy University and am currently working on the completion of my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Upon graduation, I will be an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) under the supervision of Corinne Vance.
How has working at The WellHouse impacted your life?
Working at The WellHouse has impacted my life, undoubtedly, for the better. The WellHouse is an environment that allows both the residents and the staff to be firsthand witnesses to the reckless love of God. Since working at The WellHouse, one of the passages that continues to stay afresh on my mind is Luke 15:3-7, the Parable of the Lost Sheep. What a deeply comforting and peaceful reality it is, knowing that our God joyfully rescues his Daughters who are lost!
