Letter from the CEO - Winter 2020
10 Years Serving Survivors
The WellHouse was founded through a God-given vision in July 2010; however, the first rescued survivor came to The WellHouse in January 2011. So, we are in the midst of those 10 years since founding and nearing the 10-year mark since receiving the first survivor! What a vision the founder and those who walked with her had during that time! And, what great progress God has allowed since! Over 500 survivors of sex trafficking have received services directly from The WellHouse and many more have experienced needed referrals based upon their individual needs. We could not be more humbled at the opportunity God has given us to serve Him through serving others.
The vast array of services that we offer are integrated with an unconditional love and grace that we believe expresses the love God has toward mankind. We strive to match the surroundings in which survivors live, with a love where mercy trumps justice, and our methods are always seasoned with grace! Because of this, we have been privileged to see life-changing transformation. Parents have reunited with children, education and employment goals have been reached, healing and restoration has been realized, and friendships that will last a lifetime have been forged!
But…..we are far from finished! Each of our 5-year plans included the goal of serving underaged youth who have been trafficked, and that vision was realized in late 2019 with the launch of WellHouse Child! We have been able to serve youth with referrals to services, and the WellHouse Child Program Director has delivered several children safely to other programs outside the state because at this time, a residential living facility solely for trafficked minors still does not exist in Alabama! However, by God’s amazing grace, The WellHouse is building one! Funding has been provided and each day we watch with great delight as the house is being built. And, our staff are laboring daily to ensure that the appropriate licensing is achieved and programming conducive to this age group is in place!
You can help us! With the end of the year upon us, and a $300 tax credit for charitable gifts this year, you have the opportunity to ensure that in 2021, young people have hope to experience healing from the atrocity of human trafficking!! We appreciate all you have already done, and we look forward to what is ahead! Stay tuned!!
